Better in the Poconos: A history talk

Rescheduled: Wednesday September 4, 7-8PM in the gallery

Dutot board member and retired ESU history professor Larry Squeri will present a talk on the history of the Poconos as a tourist destination, the subject of his book: Better in the Poconos. From the days of DWG as a top tourist destination in the late 1800s, to the heart-shaped tub honeymoon hotels of the 1950s, to the waterpark haven of today, Larry will present how the Poconos was and continues to be a tourist magnet.

Please join us for our first talk of the season, featuring Richard Lesh, author of the autobiography, The Uncommon Life of a Common Man, as he discusses his extraordinary life, from a hard Monroe County childhood growing up in a broken home, to joining the US Navy at 17 and surviving both a hurricane and a fire aboard ship, to being among the first on the scene at 3 Mile Island after the partial meltdown, and more! Free and open to the public!
